During the time of the war, war savings stamps were a very common way to fundraise, But what were they exactly?

War savings stamps were postal stamps that were $0.25. While collecting these stamps a person would put them into a booklet which had 16 stamps per page. Equaling $4.00 a page full of these war savings stamps. After the war, a person could return these pages and books full of stamps for a return of $5.00. The money from the purchases of war savings stamps went into the war effort. This money helped buy supplies for the soldiers fighting in the war on the front line and at home.

In Mission they had a newspaper throughout Mission Central High School called ‘News Views‘. This newspaper was very popular among the students, staff, and communities. News Views was an outlet during the time of war for people to have a way to read something fun, to be able to know what was happening around the town that was not directly related to the war. Unfortunately, even during this time, life at home had to continue and people needed to keep up a sense of community.
